COONEY, Joseph Craig -- Age 71, of Flint, died September 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday September 13 at Bristol Road Church of Christ, 1315 W. Bristol Rd., Flint. Pastor Mark Cox officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to H.I.S Ministries.
Joseph was born June 22, 1946 in Flint, MI., the son of Clarence and Ida (Duvernois) Cooney. He married Bonnie S. Wortman on December, 23, 1965 in Argentine. He resided in Flint for 50 years coming from Linden. Joseph graduated from Linden High School in 1965. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He worked at GM V-8 Engine retiring in 1994. Joseph was a member of the Bristol Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Cooney of Flint; 3 Children, Brenda Newman of Alabama, Matthew (Michele) Cooney of Port Sanilac, MI., Melissa (David) Boling of Lansing; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Aaron, Libby, Claudia, Michael, Jacob, Allen, Kelli, Shelby; 3 brothers, Wayne Cooney, Dale (Becky) Cooney; sister, Rosemary (Raymond) Bealer; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Cooney; 2 sisters, Mary Smith, Barbara Rotolo.
