James (Jim) Phillips Cuthbertson Jr. – Age 92, of Grand Blanc passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014. He was born August 7, 1922 in Flint to the late James and Clara (Periard) Cuthbertson. On November 20, 1941 he married Frances Amelia Weckler who survives him. Also surviving are daughters, Ann Ford of Grand Blanc, Jane (Robert) Caine of Chillicothe, Ohio, Peggy (Vince) O’Keeffe of Grand Blanc; son-in-law, Charles (Lynne) Smith of Kimball, MI.; grandchildren, Jim Ford, Matthew (Cheri) Ford, of Waddell, Arizona, Amy (Jeff) Reno of Barre, Massachusetts, Keith Smith of Kingsley, MI., Ben Caine of Chillicothe, Ohio, Courtney (John) Davidson of Alexandria, LA.,; 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Cuthbertson was preceded in death by children, James Phillips Cuthbertson Jr. II, Sally Ray Cuthbertson Smith, grandson, Michael Gordon Ford and son-in-law, Douglas M. Ford. Jim worked 39 years for Buick as an Engineer. He proudly served in World War II in the 75th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Jim was honored to be selected to go on the Inaugural mid-Michigan Honor Flight to Washington D.C. this May. He served as a mentor and role model for people with diabetes, which he managed for over 60 years. Jim loved spending time with his family. Also he enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. Many hours were spent at the family cottage in Oakhurst Park on Lake Huron. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI. The Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at First Congregational Church, 6494 S. Belsay Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Roger Good will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
