BROWN, Eva Grace (Hopkins)- Of Goodrich, age 94, passed away on August 10, 2014 at American House in Grand Blanc, MI.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Jeremy Africa officiating.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Eva was born in Wabash, Indiana on December 7, 1919, the daughter of Susan & George Hopkins and had been a resident of the Goodrich area since the age of three. She graduated from Goodrich High School in 1940 and married Charles Earl Brown on April 13, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. In the early 1950’s, Charlie and Eva owned and operated the Goodrich Dairy Bar, a local restaurant featuring Friday night fish and chips. Later, Eva and her life long friend, Leah Bouck, owned the Towne Shoppe, a dress shop located in the old Hamady Brothers Plaza in Grand Blanc. Eva was a talented oil and china painter and a beautiful seamstress. She also loved playing cards and golfing with her friends. She was a member of the Goodrich United Methodist Church, Eastern Stars and Daughters of American Revolution. Surviving are: her daughter, Karen (David) Lucik; grandchildren Susan (Chris) Simmons, Shelly Stone, Chris (Adelina) Stone, Kari (Jeff) Zmich, Chad (Candice) Lucik, Kelly (Andy) Starr, and Kimberly (Josh) Farrell; 7 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Eva was preceded in death by her husband Charles (1976), her daughter Beverly Ames (2009), her sister, Louise Birmingham (2010); her three brothers,
Edward (1964), Alfred (1963) and Walter (1962) Hopkins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goodrich United Methodist Church.
