WHITE, Herbert George - Of Swartz Creek, age 91, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Dr. Gary Glanville officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 4-8pm Tuesday and 10am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Herbert was born in Churchville, New York on January 10, 1928 and was a resident of the Flint area and Swartz Creek since 1957. He married Loretta Trenkler on August 2, 1947 in Rochester, New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Flint Masonic Lodge No. 23 F.&A.M., Flint Elks Lodge No. 222 and Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. White was a resident engineer for General Motors Buick Motor Division for 39 years, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are wife, Leah;
children, Terry H. (Joann) White of Indian River, Barbara Ann (Charles) Holden of Swartz Creek, Joanne P. (Larry) Davis of Wisconsin, Sherry A. (Danny) King of Waterford;
7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter;
many nieces and nephews;
step-daughter, Laurie Webber;
2 step grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta, in 2002, son, Mark Allen, in 1991; brothers, Charles and Albert, sisters, Evelyn Grant, Geraldine Miggins and Marjorie Weiland, step-son, Craig Jarrell and daughter-in-law, Sharon White.
