GRUMLEY, Clela May (Botsford) – of Davison, MI, age 103, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020. An Outdoor Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Monday, October 5, 2020 at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, 1523 North Oak Road Davison, MI 48423; The Rev. Sue Colavincenzo officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11:30 AM-1 PM Monday, October 5, 2020 at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, in May’s memory. In accordance with State Mandated Guidelines, masks are required and social distancing must be observed.
May was born in Flint, MI on August 13, 1917, daughter of the late A.J. and Maud (Wood) Botsford. She married William F. Grumley on December 24, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1970. May retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of service. She was a long-time member of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School. May was also a member of the Davison Order of Eastern Star #299, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America and The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, reading, knitting, crocheting and other arts and crafts. May was truly the matriarch of the family and was instrumental in arranging family reunions.
May is survived by 3 children, Michael (Caroline) Grumley, Larry (Carol) Grumley and Kathleen Gribble; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Maud Botsford; her husband, William F. Grumley; son, Patrick A. Grumley; grandson, James L. Grumley; son-in-law, Aral B. Gribble and 9 siblings.
