BIGELOW, Michael Richard – of Montrose, age 81, died Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2019 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Kathy Gardner officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday November 1, 2019 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Michael was born February 7, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late Chet and Naomi (Snader) Bigelow. He grew up in Flint and attended Central High School. Michael was raised by his grandmother Millicent Snader.
He served his country in the US Navy. He married Melba Blackman in 1957 and she preceded him in death in 1987. Michael then married Norma Leach Powell on June 11, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he worked as a Team Leader for GM with 32 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nascar and Michigan Football. Michael’s greatest joy in life was his family and grandchildren. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Maple Woods Manor.
Surviving are: Wife, Norma; Children, Sid Bigelow, Julie Dorr, Tony Bigelow, Gino Bigelow; Step Children, Joan Caster, Matt Caster, Melissa Addison; 25 Grandchildren; numerous Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Sandy Jaggers, Barbara Johnson; several nieces and nephews; Special Friends, George Woods, Jerry Patsey, Robin Berry. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother; Parents; Son, Dino Bigelow; Daughter, Marsha; Grandson, Derek; Granddaughter, Makynze; Sister, Patty.
