PRAY, Grace V. – Of Burton, age 86, died Friday, September 5, 2014 at Briarwood Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014
St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Boulevard, Flint, Pastor Gary Beck
officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
Mrs. Pray will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
Grace was born in Hillman, Michigan on May 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Clarence and Alma (Werner) Harvey.
She married Douglas G. Pray at Our Savior Lutheran Church on July 3, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1995; after 49 years of marriage.
Grace was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in the school, cafeteria and numerous activities.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of the T.O.P.S. Club.
Most importantly she loved being around children, whether her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren or those of friends.
She loved crafts and growing roses.
Grace loved sports, especially watching her kids and grandkids sports. She loved her game channel. She lived her faith to the highest extent and was a wonderful example to her family. After raising her family she went to Mott and obtained her certificate as a Nurse’s Aide.
Grace was employed by the Kings Daughters and Sons for 16 years, retiring in 1983. She was a luncheon aide at Beecher Schools from 1999-2001 and she also ran the summer lunch program.
Surviving are Diane (Al) Webb,
Pat Elson, Larry (Carol) Pray, Kathy (Gil) Stamm, Leonard (Nora) Pray and Matt (Norma) Pray;
daughter-in-law, Lisa Pray;
18 grandchildren;
25 great-grandchildren;
sister, Lucille Smith;
brothers, Cecil Harvey and Robert (Jean) Harvey.
She was preceded in death by husband; sons, Richard Pray and Barry Pray; son-in–law, Keith Elston; one sister and two brothers.
