McGAFFIGAN, Bernard E. – Of Linden, age 87, died Monday, August 29, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, Father Tom Firestone officiating.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. McGaffigan will be at the church after 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, ALS or St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Bernard was born in Flint, MI on June 11, 1929 and was a resident of Flint most of his life, moving to Linden in 1989.
On June 17, 1950 he married Norma Cox in Flint.
He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Mr. McGaffigan was employed by Buick Motor Division, Factory 25 for 39 years, retiring in 1993 and was a member of UAW Local #599.
Surviving are children, Thomas and wife Julie,
Kathleen and husband James Vernier,
Patricia Moss,
Jane Keeler,
Robert and wife Susan,
Ann and husband Frank Ardigo and
John;
16 grandchildren;
9 great-grandchildren;
siblings, Michael (Cheryl) and Margaret (Robert) Leddick
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Norma in 2009; his son, Jim in 1989; his parents, James and Margaret McGaffigan; brothers, James, Patrick and Raymond; sisters, Frances and MaryAnn.
