MATHERS, Lavina Ione, age 78, of Flint Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 9, 2014. A memorial service will be 3:00PM Wednesday , May 14, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 1:00PM Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Lavina was born August 21, 1935 in Flint the daughter of the late Daniel F. and Vera B. (Goff) Rouse. She married Aubrey Mathers on January 13, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2000. Lavina loved going to the senior center where she could dance, sing and play the guitar and keyboard. She was a wonderful cook and baker, sharing the goodies with everyone. Lavina was a very giving person, she took in several foster children hoping to give them a better start in life, treating them as her own.
Surviving are her 3 children, Rhonda Adams (Doug), Aubrey Mathers Jr. (Julie), Rick Mathers, (Nancy); 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;brother, Ed Rouse; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Paul Molpus; Pinky and Bill Anderson.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Lee Holbrook; infant twins, Aubrey and Bonita; sisters, Arlene, Ellen, Helen, Mildred; brothers, Art, Robert and Everett. Online condolences maybe shared at www.brownfh.com
