Mother Victoria (Poplar) Brooks life journey began on May 21, 1935, in Rison, Arkansas. Mother Brooks was born the daughter of Henry and Mary Susie Poplar. Mother Brooks accepted Christ as her Savior at Union Grove Baptist Church in Rison, Arkansas. After graduating from high school, in 1954, Mother Brooks relocated to Flint, Michigan, where in October 1956, she met the love of her life. Mother Brooks united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Lawrence Brooks on April 4, 1959. Mother Brooks became a licensed beautician and an employee of General Motors Service Parts Division. Mother Brooks was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church who served as a Laywoman and on the Mother's Board, Senior Choir, Missionary Society, and Kitchen Committee.

Mother Victoria Brooks was a mighty servant of God who uplifted and supported her family members no matter what their needs. She was like a mother to all, freely offering prayers, guidance, stern advice, financial resources, and most importantly, her love. Mother Brooks was an adventurer who loved to spend time with her husband traveling in their camper throughout the United States. She loved experiencing life in the outdoors and interacting with individuals she met along the way. Mother Brooks was a stylish lady who absolutely loved venturing to the various shopping malls to buy just one more unique fashionable outfit to put in her closet. Mother Brooks was also an unwavering fan of the Detroit Pistons who watched them no matter where she was in the United States. It was well-known, she didn’t want anyone to even call her telephone when the Pistons games were on.

Mother Victoria Brooks leaves to cherish her memory devoted husband of 65 years, Mr. Lawrence Brooks; son, Maurice Brooks (fiancee' Sharita Harris), granddaughter, Keosha Brooks and bonus granddaughter, Naziya Read, Godchildren, Huriddin Mustafaa, Terry and Patricia Rawls, and Debra Ryan; brother, Fred (Donna) Poplar; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Poplar, Ruth (Rev. Raymond) Blackwell and Victoria Poplar; special family friends, Arnetta Mabry, Sheila Hamilton, Deloris Drake, Maurice and Brenda Purches, Gay Warren and niece, Quata Smith; other relatives and friends.

Mother Victoria Brooks was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Mary Susie Poplar; sisters, Hattie Mae Watson, Burnadean Smith; brothers, Joseph Williams, Henry Poplar Jr., Sylvester Poplar, William Poplar, Arthur Poplar, James Poplar, and Samuel Poplar.
