Donald Dean “Don” Whitman of Davison age 75, died Friday May 25, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Monday May 28, 2018 at Davison High School 1250 N. Oak Rd. Davison. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Private burial in Davison Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm Saturday and 3-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Whitman will lie in state at Davison High School Auditorium from 12:30 pm Monday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Don’s memory to the Donald Whitman DAE Scholarship Fund. Donald was born in Goodrich Michigan on February 21, 1943 the son of LeRoy & Ruth (Cook) Whitman and has resided in the Davison area since 1967. He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and a member of the Kappa Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was Davison High School’s Wrestling Coach for many years and was instrumental in the starting of Davison Alternative Education Program where he served as Principal from 1990 until 2005. Don had been employed as an Educator and Administrator for Davison Community Schools from September 1967 until his retirement in August 2005. He leaves his wife Kim, children Holly (Douglas) Halabicky, Heather (Chad Cartier) Whitman and D. Robert (Chantel Dawson) Whitman. He also leaves his eight grandchildren, his mother Ruth Whitman, and siblings; Ronald (Colleen) Whitman, Connie (William) Hopper, Carol (Barry) Gallagher and a host of extended family and friends.
