Kathryn Ellen Seward
Age 89 of Owosso passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village.
Funeral services will be held 11am Monday, January 25, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Rhine officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to8pm.
Kathryn was born May 2, 1926 in Flint, the daughter of Benjamin and Edna (Davis) Sharp.
She graduated from Durand High School, class of 1943 and attended Lansing Community College earning a degree in Judicial Administration.
Kathryn was a member of Bethel Evangelical Church, Genealogy Society and Zonta Club of Owosso and past member of Legal Secretaries. She was also involved in numerous historical groups, many bridge clubs, several school boards and the United Way. Kathryn was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts and a Girl Scout volunteer.
She married Orville Herbert Seward in Durand on June 28, 1947; he predeceased her 1995.
Kathryn was employed through the years at Redmonds and Universal Electric and spent 9 years at Shiawassee County Court and 12 years as the Shiawassee County Register of Deeds.
Kathryn is survived by her sons Duane Seward and Keith Seward; daughter Gayle Gibbs; grandchildren Robert (Colleen), Brett, Dustin (Beth), Misty, Drew and Brian (Emily) Seward and Sean, Megan and Jon Gibbs; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Wanda Beehler; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Orville and parents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Corunna Historical Village and Shiawassee Historical Society or Oliver Woods Retirement Village.
