PRESCOTT, James Edward – Of Davison, age 78, died on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich following a period of declining health. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at East Flint Church of the Nazarene, 3515 North Belsay Road, Genesee, Pastor Ron Sharpe officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the East Flint Church of the Nazarene or Genesys Hospice Care Center. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Prescott will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service. James was born in Flint, Michigan on November 18, 1933, the son of the late James Spencer and Tinnie Louise (Honea) Prescott. He married Shirley Jeanette Bonner at Holbrook Church of God in Flint, on December 8, 1951. James was a member of the East Flint Church of the Nazarene for 16 years, where he dedicated work taking care of the church grounds. James was employed for a short time at the Purple Cow (Durant Hotel), Fischer Body in Cleveland, Chevrolet in Flint, and for 34 years at GM AC Spark Plug until he retired in 1987. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Shirley, of 60 years; five children, Bonnie (David) Aikman of Attica, Mark (Daphne) Prescott of Grand Blanc, J. Spencer (Tammera) Prescott of Mt. Morris, Dennis (Christine) Prescott of Burton and Eugene (Angela) Prescott of Davison. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Shirley (Donald) Tucker of Swartz Creek; 11 grandchildren;
3 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Mike Dunbar, Jerry and Betty Parks.
