Arlene was born in Flint, the daughter of John J. and Effie Martin. Her previous spouse Emery J. “Jim” Kocsis, her 5 siblings, her son Kenneth Atkin and nieces Barbra Sobey and Jan Dimock predeceased her. She is survived by her spouse Charles Rachor, daughters Linda (Dennis) Briggs, Mary Louise Credeur and son Emery L. “Jim” (Cindy) Kocsis and her grandchildren Meghan (Michael) Kinnish, Beau and Wyatt Credeur and Natalie and Ben Kocsis and numerous nieces and nephews. Arlene was a busy, family-oriented, homemaker and a beautician. She and her family enjoyed a large piece of land where they raised apple trees and an acre-size garden every year as well as kept chicken and geese. She attended cosmetology school in downtown Flint and worked as a hairdresser at some of Flint’s leading salons. Later in life she did hair at her sister Julia’s home salon and attended Mott Community College. Cooking homemade meals and family time were most important to Arlene and the family spent holidays celebrating with Arlene’s sisters and other relatives. In her later years she and Charlie enjoyed the ballroom dancing parties put on at various area senior centers by Jim Hedrich. Arlene’s gentle disposition, love of family, and caring ways will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arlene Kocsis-Rachor Scholarship Fund of the Foundation of Mott Community College Foundation, 1401 E Court St, Flint MI 48503-2089 or the charity of your choice.
