NICHOLAS, Maxine M. Goodar (Streu) – of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away Sunday July 30, 2017 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Interment immediately following the service in Davison Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 1-4 PM and 5-8 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017 and 10-11 AM Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home. A Memorial Service, under the auspices of the Davison Eagles #3589 will be held 6 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michigan Parkinson Foundation, in Maxine’s memory.
Maxine was born in Flint, MI on January 13, 1933, daughter of the late Otto and Lela (Allen) Streu. She married Robert Goodar on June 7, 1952 and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1998. On October 7, 2000, Maxine married Raymond Nicholas and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2010. She retired from J.D. Color Lab after many years of service. Maxine was a charter member, past Madame President and served as an officer of the Davison Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3589. She was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1950 and, until her passing, continued to attend monthly lunch meetings with her 50’s girls. Maxine was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Karr, Jr., Reverence Hospice and the staff of Brookdale Senior Living for their loving and professional care.
Maxine is survived by her 4 children, Deborah (Frank) Waider, Mark (Colleen) Goodar, Tami (Kevin) O’Leary and Scott (Holly) Goodar; her bonus family, Steve (Janice) Baillie and Elaine (Mike) Bully; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Geiger; brother, Robert (Joyce) Wilson; many other loving family members and friends.
