DICK, John E. – of Davison, age 89, went to be with the Lord October 27, 2018 at Lapeer Co. Medical Care Facility (Suncrest), surrounded by his family. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Auxiliary or St. Vincent DePaul.
John was born in Bay City, MI on September 3, 1929, son of the late Joseph and Alma (Johnson) Dick. He enlisted in the Army in 1947 and served his country for 2 years. On November 19, 1949, he married Evelyn Lorence of Flint and they spent 69 years together. They owned and operated L&D Market in Flint. Subsequently, John wore many hats; Butcher, TV Repairman, Auto Sales, Snow Plowing and helping his son Tom build display racks for his business. He also spent 30 years as an Electrical Technician at AC Spark Plug.
John leaves behind his wife, Evelyn; children, Gail Urchyk, Sheree (Larry) Huntoon, Patricia (Robert) Skinner, John (Nancy) Dick, Jr., Marifrances (Keith) Justus and Thomas (Angie) Dick. His six children blessed him with 10 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; special friends, Joe and Joyce Kohler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don; son-in-law, Rick Urchyk.
