CANTRELL, Katherine E. – of Clio, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Private graveside services will be held in Flint Memorial Park. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network.

Katherine was born September 7, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Leroy and Blanche (Hoffman) Rood. She graduated from Vassar High School in 1956. Katherine married Jack Leroy Cantrell on November 1, 1958 in Vassar. He preceded her in death December 16, 2019. She worked at H&R Block for several years. Katherine enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, flowers and loved raising animals, especially strays in need. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are: Children, Cindy (Brian) O’Rourke, and Jim (Stephanie) Cantrell; Grandchildren: Mike (Jill) Williams, Amy Williams, Colt Cantrell (Jessica Mae Clark), Lindsay (Rob) Samuels, Ashleigh (Joel) Steiner, Cody Brown, Brandon Hamilton, Shelby Hamilton; Great Grandchildren: Kellen Williams, Jack Williams, Hadley Williams, Brody Williams, Olivia Samuels, Molly Steiner, Calvin Steiner, Lucy Steiner; Several nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. Katherine was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Edie Grace Williams. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Maple Woods Manor – especially, Jenny, Mary, and Chelsea for all their love and care.
