PHILLIPS, William "Bill" F. -- Age 71, of Flint Township, died Sunday February 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday February 9 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Thursday and again from 10 AM until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
William was born July 23, 1946 in Ludington, the son of Frank and Alta (Hodges) Phillips. He married Linda L. Lloyd in Petosky on May 30, 1970. He grew up in Ludington. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1963 - 1969. He was employed at GM retiring with 35 years of service. Bill loved his 17 year old cat, Mackinaw. He loved movies, his computer and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the local UAW 599, and also a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Deanna Hoydic, William (Amber) Phillips, Christina (Michael )Racer; grandchildren, Jazmin, Jade, Rutger, Hope, Addison, Nathaniel, Penelope; great-grandchildren, Robert III, Isabella; step-mother Barb Phillips; brothers, Frank Phillips and Dave Phillips; sisters, Pam Gould, Robin Umlor and Janet Eskola; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack.
The family would like to extend a thank you to nephew, Michael Johnson, for all the smiles and laughs, to Kindred Hospice, including Dr. Saha and all the kind and loving ladies who helped Bill the last three weeks. The family wants to give an extra special thank you to Dr. Kiran for his care and compassion. Blessings to all.
