HILSABECK, Elwyn William – Of Burton, age 93, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
Elwyn was a devoted loving husband and father.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Wounded Warriors.
Elwyn was born in Flint, MI on July 23, 1921 to the late Orley and Alice Hilsabeck.
Elwyn graduated from Flint Central High School and Michigan State University.
He was a World War II Veteran Army/Airforce. His career was with General Motors, retiring as an Industrial Engineer from AC in 1985. He enjoyed computers, photography and family vacations.
He was an avid reader, participated in VFW functions, active church member and walked at the Genesee Valley Mall with a group of friends.
His wife, Wanda Hilsabeck preceded him in death.
Surviving are his four children,
Donald Hilsabeck of Burton, MI,
Kay (Steve) Spencer of Lexington, SC, Janice (Dennis) Benn of Flint, MI and Mary (Tony) Omerzu of Silver Springs, FL;
six grandchildren, Sarah (Hilsabeck) Agle, Joy and Grant Spencer, Michael, Aaron and Andrew Omerzu;
two step-grandchildren, David and Alicia Benn;
two great-grandchildren, Morgan Sanders and Eirik Agle.
Also surviving are sister, Marilyn (Jack) Fleishman; brother, Orley (Rosemary) Hilsabeck; preceded by brother, Louis Hilsabeck. Dear relatives, Joyce (Larry) Lee, Eugence Collar; several nieces and nephews.
