MacDONALD, John Norris – Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Elder Michael Ruch and Elder Robert Ruch officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Oakwood Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ Church, 5220 Oakwood Road, Ortonville, MI 48462.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Norris was born in Sarnia, Ontario, on February 15, 1927, the son of John and Lucinda MacDonald. He married Shirley Lenore Pratt on August 22, 1947. He was a member of the Oakwood Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ having been ordained in 1954 to the Aaronic Priesthood and served as an Aaronic Priest. In later years he was ordained to the Melchisedec Priesthood has an Elder, having served in the Lord’s Priesthood for over sixty one years.
Norris was employed by Chevrolet Manufacturing for thirty years as a journeyman electrician. He also served in the Canadian Army during World War II.
Surviving Norris are his beloved wife, Shirley;
daughters, Cheryl Slagor and husband Chester, Darlene Bessolo, Wendy Rowe and husband Jesse;
son, Edward MacDonald and wife Candy;
grandchildren, Chester Slagor, Eric Slagor and wife Kimberely, Jamie Moore and husband Michael, Laurie MacDonald, Michael MacDonald, Sarah Hennessey and husband Thomas, Justin Bessolo and wife Courtney, Mallory Bessolo, Jason Rowe, Jeremy Rowe, Stephanie Rowe and Jacob Rowe;
additionally, there are eleven great-grandchildren, Jared, Rebecca, Brennen, Mateo, Hannah, Jordan, Gage, Landen, Logan, Delila, Lilliana and 1 great-great grandchild, Bentley Patrick.
He is also survived by his sister, Myrna Smith of Dresden, Ontario and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Cinda Lou MacDonald and son-in-law Robert Bessolo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Trudell, Dr. Paul Lafia and Jeffrey Bruce for their devoted care.
