KLOBUCAR, John E. “AKA” Klobucher – Burton, age 88, passed away May 9, 2011 at Hyde Park Assisted Living. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 am Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint; Rev. Fr. Arockiyasamy Santhiyagu celebrant. Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed 7 pm. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Flint or Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
John was born in Eveleth, MN on June 25, 1922, son of the late David and Mandy (Plasha) Klobucher. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, American Legion and Croation Slovene Club. John served in the Navy, after he was discharged in 1952 he opened his first restaurant called the Old Trail Inn. He later moved down the street to open Johnny’s Crossroad Inn. John became the first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee north of Detroit, celebrating 48 years as a franchisee. John founded Big John Steak and Onion in 1973.
John is survived by his brother, Joseph Klobucher and Rick Bray; sister, Joanna Davidson; nieces, Karen Burch, Deborah (Ted) Carson; great nieces and nephew, Stacy Jo (David) Hawthorne and family, Kimerly (Brian) Clark and family, Kit and Tex Carson; extended family, Chris and Mitch Ratza, Bill Adams, John Dickie, Andy Gould, Jack Goodfellow, Jimmie Allison; special friends, Sister Agnes, Sister Ellen, Sister Ann Catherine, Dave and Elaine Benjamin and Lily Simon.
