LaBAR, Victor A. – Of Flint, age 97, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Wounded Warriors Project.
Visitation 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Victor was born in Fife Lake, Michigan on May 20, 1921, the son of the late Stanley and Pearl (Beaver) LaBar.
He married Marvil Miller on May 30, 1942.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a longtime member of Lincoln Park Methodist Church. Victor was also a member of the Elks in Cadillac, American Legion Fife Lake Post.
Mr. LaBar was employed by Fisher Body I for over 37 years, retiring in the late 70’s.
Surviving are wife, Marvil;
daughter, Sharol Rabideau;
sons, Randy (Diane) and Gary (Brenda);
8 grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren;
2 sisters, Muriel McGowan and Sharley Buchner;
brother, Duane LaBar;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Merwin.
