BOWERS, Elwood Lee - age 81, of Byron died Wednesday, April 24, 2019. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Natural Resources Defense Council (www.nfdc.org). Elwood was born December 21, 1937 in Pontiac, the son of Earl Elwood and Erma Mary (Guilliat) Bowers. He married Tamara Cox on July 17, 1958. Elwood retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Flaming Pistons Car Club of Chesaning, a car show enthusiast, loved vintage cars, enjoyed birds, wildlife, and was an outdoorsman. Surviving are: wife, Tamara of Byron; three children, Trudy Wallace of Morehead, KY, Paula (John) Steele of Bridgeport, and Christopher Bowers of Ann Arbor; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Louis) Paige of Shelby Township; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his son, Michael Bowers; two brothers, Ronald Bowers and David Beard; father, Earl Bowers; mother, Erma Beard; and step-father, Alonzo Beard.
