WARD, Viola Mae - age 80, of Fenton, died Sunday, August 18, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1025 Main St., Fenton with Rev. Dean Dumbrille officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a Fenton VFW Post #3243 Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday. Visitation will also be held from 10 AM - 11 AM Thursday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to VFW Camp Trotter for Children. Viola was born November 30, 1938 in Richville, MN, the daughter of Gustav E. and Viola Amanda (Whitney) Peuse. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Corp Wave from 1961-64. Viola married James E. Ward on September 5, 1964 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2007. Viola was a 45+ year life member of the VFW Auxiliary #3245. She was active in the organization right up to the end. She served as Auxiliary President four times and held many chairmanships. She was Past 10th District President and was a past Department Chairman. Viola was also a member of Cooties Auxiliary #32 and American Legion Auxiliary #38. Surviving are: five children, Barbara Osborne of Winston-Salem, NC, James Ward II of Fenton, Diana Ward of Fenton, Donald (Amy) Ward of Trenton, and Doris Davis of Zeeland, MI; seven grandchildren, Leigh (Brent) Irvin, Erin Osborne, Adam (Heather) Smock, Kayla Ward, Jared Johnson, Emily Stephenson, and Nathaniel Davis; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darcy (Hank) Grannis of Destin, FL and Willie (Brian) Walker of Endicott, NY; brother, Donald (Darlene) Reiter of Fergus Falls, MN; many nieces and nephews.
