BOSSIE, Gilbert Raymond - of Flushing, age 77, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, April 18, 2019 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Karen Williams officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 3:30 PM until time of service at 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clio VFW Post #1452 Honor Guard.
Gilbert was born November 9, 1941 in Bangor, Maine to the late Wallace and Winnie (Frazer) Bossie Sr. He grew up in Fort Fairfield, Maine and graduated from Ft. Kent High School in 1959. On June 2, 1973 he married Patricia Thompson in Mt. Morris, Michigan. He served his country in the US Army retiring in 1981 after 221/2 years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Gilbert was then employed by the US Postal Service for 18 ½ years as a Mailman in the City of Flint. He was also a substitute Teacher for the Mt. Morris and Clio area schools. Gilbert was a member of the Flushing VFW Post # 5666 and the American Legion Post # 283.
Surviving are: Wife of 45 years Patricia; Children, David (Sue) Bossie, Annette (Clentin) Cox, Michelle (Andy) Ostertag; 9 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Wallace (Manoli) Bossie Jr.; several nieces, nephews, and very loved in laws. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sister, Barbara Moirs; Brother, Joe Bossie; Granddaughter, Catherine Miles; Father and Mother in law, Richard and Carol Thompson.
