JACQUES, Herbert John - Age 90, of Linden, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Burial immediately following in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM Thursday. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held 7PM Thursday with a V.F.W. memorial service following. Those desiring may make contributions to Linden V.F.W or Linden Masonic Lodge. Herb was born January 1, 1923 in Presque Isle, ME, the son of Howard and Florence (Wright) Jacques. He was a 1941 graduate of Flint Central High School and attended Michigan State University. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. Herb married Joyce F. Adams July 19, 1947 in Linden. He had resided in Linden since July 19, 1947. He retired in 1981as a Millwright from GM Cadillac Motor Division after 37 years of service and after retirement he worked for Sharp Funeral Homes for many years. He was a life member, past Master and musician of the Linden Masonic Lodge #132 F.&A.M. He was a life member, past Commander and past Quartermaster of the Emeritus Linden V.F.W. Post #4642. Herb was a life member of the Flint Detachment Marine Corps League, Linden American Legion 119, Bay City Scottish Rite Masonry. He was also a member of the Bay City Consistory, Marine Corps Association, Retired GM Corps UAW Local 1292 of Grand Blanc and Linden Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: wife of 66 years, Joyce; 3 children, Michael Herbert (Gail) Jacques of Linden, Timothy (Cindy) Jacques of Boca Raton, FL, Toni Bluhm of Linden; God-daughter, Kelly (Mike) McIntyre; grandchildren, Brent (Angela) Jacques, Jennifer Bluhm, Brooke Jacques, Rob Jacques; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremy Jacques; sister, Nancy Hatch; sisters-in-law, Muriel Jacques and Celia Adams; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Raymond Jacques in 1988; son-in-law, Dennis Bluhm; brother-in-law, Emery Hatch.
