GALVAS, Marion J. – of Flint, age 93, passed away August 9, 2017 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday and 12-3 & 5-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council #4090 at 7 PM Thursday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus #4090.
Marion was born in Flint, MI on March 2, 1924, son of the late Joseph and Julia (Bogasky) Galvas. He married Rose Kertesz on August 27, 1949 and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2009. Marion was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Davison VFW #4087 and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #4090. He was a very proud WWII veteran and was inducted in the Flint Sports Hall of Fame.
Marion is survived by his children, Ken (Yvonne), Tom (Reneé), David (Becky), Gerald, Karen, Linda and Roseann French; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ed (Charlotte) Galvas; sister, Joan Bishoff.
