ZIEL, Dorothy D. - Of Flint, age 86, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Living Joy Memory in Flushing.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, October 21, 2016 at Deliverance Tabernacle, G4089 Fenton Road, Burton,
Pastor Butch Martin and Reverend Ernest Davis co-officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 2-7pm Thursday, October 20, 2016 and 12noon until the time of the service Friday at Deliverance Tabernacle.
Dorothy was born in Beech Grove, Arkansas on December 25, 1929, the daughter of Columbus and Rhoda Thacker, and was a resident of Flint since 1939. She married Gerald Ziel on September 25, 1948 in Flint. She was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle.
She leaves to cherish her memory; 2 wonderful daughters, Deborah Ziel-Verla of Clarkston, Sharon Radatz of Swartz Creek and former son-in-law, Clifford Radatz of St. Clair;
4 wonderful grandchildren, Laurie and husband Dana Shafer of Swartz Creek, Daniel and wife Lisa Radatz of Miami, Florida, Adrianne Verla of Fussa, Tokyo, Japan and Shawn Verla of Hagerstown, Maryland;
1 great-granddaughter, Gwyneth Shafer;
2 sisters, Wanda Cordell and Barbara Cowen, both of Flint;
many nieces and nephews;
and her beloved Shih-Tzu, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, infant daughter, Cynthia Ann; son-in-law, David Verla, granddaughter, Amanda Lee Verla; her parents, Columbus and Rhoda Thacker; sister, Arby Bailey; brother, Robert Thacker, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gustav and Alma Ziel.
She will be sadly missed and loved.
