DAVIS, JOHN ARTHUR – Age 77, died Friday, May 3, 2024
at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Michael Phelps officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024 at the funeral home.
John A. Davis was born in Flint, Michigan on January 22, 1947, the son of the late Nelson and Anna Davis.
Mr. Davis graduated from Mayville High School in the class of 1965 and served his country proudly and honorably in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1966-1969 with a tour in Viet Nam. He returned and farmed with his father for 15 years and also worked for the State of Michigan where, he was a mechanic, retiring after 28 years of service.
John married his wife, Mary on April 4, 1992 in Swartz Creek.
He was a member of the United Church of God on Coldwater Road in Flint and enjoyed putzing in the yard, mowing the grass and he and Mary liked going out in their pontoon boat. He liked to fish, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them about farming and working hard.
Surviving are his wife Mary;
five daughters, Theresa, Christine, Heidi, twins, Mary and Melissa;
son, Jason;
step-children, Ann Howe, Harold Inman and Mandy Valley;
16 grandchildren;
sisters, Kay Scrimger and Jean Halazon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Nelson Davis and sister, Charlotte Davis.
