Dan's life began as a “farm boy” in the small Michigan town of Otisville. An “only child”, he became the likely choice for the position of Chief Delivery Boy for the family’s “Raspberry Plantation”, making daily deliveries to 15 – 20 local supermarkets. That supermarket chain became the source of employment during High School and college. After graduating High School, he married his High School sweetheart, a woman he later referred to as a "Proverbs Woman". That was in 1964 and resulted in three children and their many beloved grandchildren. Over the years they enjoyed such pleasures as camping (until the children grew up and moved away), snowmobiling (until age and the cost of the sport made it prohibitive) and woodworking (until it turned from a hobby into a business and became more work than fun). Enjoyment, in later life, came from taking short, two to three day trips of sightseeing, shopping, attending live theater and attending Car Cruises with their '63 Impala SS. His involvement in the community included the Junior Chamber of Commerce where he held every local office including President, served as District Secretary, Regional Secretary and Michigan Portfolio Manager for International Involvement. He was later honored as Junior Chamber International Senator #30678. He also served as a Cub Scout Pack Chairman and Parent Teacher Organization Treasurer and Vice-President.

Following college, he worked a short time for IBM, and then moved to General Motors – Buick Motor Division, and later with EDS. His entire secular career was spent working with computers. He began as a Computer Operator and eventually held such positions as Business Relations Specialist, Systems Engineer, Systems Engineering Manager and Technical Training Manager. In 2002, he took a job working as an Office Manager at Allen Funeral home.

His introduction to the church began with infant Baptism at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flint. While he was still too young to remember, his family began worshipping at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Flint. There he was Confirmed, Married and took their children to be Baptized. In early 1971, Dan and Char moved their family to Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison. While there he was involved in several ministries.

In 1995, Dan and Char transferred to Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. While there, he was also involved in several ministries.

While working at Allen Funeral Home, Dan completed the Michigan District Deacon Training Program. In January 2006, he was able to realize a life-long dream, as he and Char were blessed with the opportunity to serve Christ and his people at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, back in Otisville, the small town where their stories began. Dan was asked to assist Pastor David Hensler. In July 2009, Pastor Hensler retired and Dan was asked to fill the vacancy, which he did until a pastor was installed in April 2010.

In May 2010, Dan and Char transferred back to Trinity - Davison. Since that time, he had been involved in Preaching, Leading Worship, Teaching, and Hospital / Homebound visitations.

Dan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Char; sons, Darrin (Michelle) Zudel, Chad (Deb) Zudel and Bryan (Dawn) Zudel; grandchildren, Autumn, Devin, Kayleigh, Austin, Chelsea, Drew, Cody and Angel; great-grandchild, Spencer; many special friends, including the Hensler’s, Bolzman’s, Huff’s, Nyswaner’s and Weber’s. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Anna (Mitas) Zudel. Jesus was Dan’s Lord and Savior. The only way to Heaven is by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. Have you received Jesus?
