Catherine V. Gibbs, Age 100
Formerly of Flint, died peacefully on Saturday February 22, 2020 at her residence in Silver Spring, Maryland. Born at Fort Williams, South Portland, Maine. Married the late Lieutenant Thomas Gibbs at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York in 1943. She served many years in the Flint community; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Fairwinds Girl Scout Council, and Holy Redeemer Church. A loving mother and homemaker, Catherine was a fantastic cook and baker. Her lifelong focus was on the education of her children and grandchildren, all earning numerous college degrees. Surviving are Colonel Richard and Eileen Gibbs, Patrick and Felicia Gibbs, Virginia Gibbs, grandmother to Doctors Andrew and Marcy Gibbs, Megan and Paul Smiljanich and the late Dr. Michael Gibbs. Five great grandchildren; Tess, Mike, Irene, Charlie and Tommy. Relatives and friends will gather at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 11600 Kemp Mill Rd Silver Spring, MD on Saturday March 21st at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00AM. Internment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Andrews the Apostle Church.
