Rosemary Kekel - 89, of Flushing, most recently of Warren, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church, G-4063 W. Pierson Road, Flint with Fr. Tom Firestone, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM to time of Mass. Following the committal at New Calvary, a memorial luncheon will be held at St. John Vianney Parrish Hall, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint.
Rosemary was born April 29, 1926 in Illinois, the daughter of Mark and Magdalene (Behil) Gradik. She married James Kekel on September 15, 1951 at Sacred Heart - Flint; and she loved and cared for him into his elder years until he predeceased her on August 10, 2007. Raised in foster care until her mid teens, nothing kept Rosemary from becoming the loving person she was. Rosemary loved to cook and was a collector of tea cups and saucers. She achieved an associates degree and was employed as a bookkeeper, nanny, worked at AC Sparkplug, owned an in home day care business and volunteered at local nursing homes, a variety of Catholic Church and School activities. She was an avid reader of anything printed, especially her Bible. Rosemary was very strong in her Catholic faith and was a great mother and grandmother.
Survivors include: sons, Michael (Sue) Kekel and Matthew (Ami) Kekel; grandson, Andrew; step granddaughter, Lanaya.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Lucas. |
