Roy was born and raised in Gladstone, Michigan on February 6, 1944, the son of Joseph and Eva (Bussineau) Caron. He married Gayle Caron on February 19, 1966, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flint. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2016, shortly after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Roy served in the U.S. Army as a cook. He retired from General Motors and had lived in Flushing most of his adult life.
Roy was a strong Christian who lived what he believed. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church. In 1973, he donated his kidney to his brother.
Roy enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, planting flowers, woodworking, cooking and camping. He liked listening to Bluegrass and Southern Gospel. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and being a father.
As a Christian ministry, Roy and Gayle became foster and adoptive parents. He is survived by his daughters, Jacki Slough, Lynn LaBrecque; adopted children, Steve Caron, Brianna LeBeau, Kristal Carpentier, Matt Caron, Blake Caron, Sean Caron; foster children, Mary Little, Bree Cobb, Augie Garcia, Scott Bouman, Dan Lyons, Stacey Gibson, Joe Wateridge, Sue Walters, Camelia Wateridge; and also cared for many other foster children who will always remain in their hearts; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Caron. He was preceded in death by his children, Bill Caron, Julie Burnham; brothers, Donald Caron, Lawrence Caron, Richard Caron, and Raymond Caron.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to McLaren-Flint ICU, who took excellent care of him for the past 22 days. |
