HAROLD D. WHEELER, Sr., age 79 of Davison, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Genesys Hospice in Goodrich. Funeral services will be 2PM Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Clarence Moorhouse officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11AM to 8PM at the funeral home and Wednesday from 11AM until time of service at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Smith Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Richfield Church of the Nazarene or Genesys Hospice Care Center of Goodrich. Harold was born on December 27, 1931, the son of William and Lois Wheeler. He married Sandra (Anderson) Wheeler on March 1, 1952. He drove fork lifts and trucks for 34 years at Chevrolet Manufacturing. Harold was a U.S. Army Veteran of the 45th division of the combat engineers. He served as a Sergeant in the Korean War and was one of the chosen few to bring the colors back to the U.S. at the end of the war. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4087, where he was an officer and a member of the color guard. He was also a member of the Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Harold enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. Surviving is his wife: Sandra; Children: Harold (Robin) Wheeler, Jr. of Otisville, Kathy (Tom) DeFina of Fenton, Karen (Jim) O’Leary of Otisville, and Randy (Cristal) Wheeler of Davison; Grandchildren: Christy (Ryan) Robinson, Nicole Foor, Joshua Roach, Zachary Roach, James Wheeler, Melisa Wheeler, and Lisa Zaruba; Great-Grandchildren: Matthew Helton, Chase Robinson, Xavier, Gabriel, and Jasmine Johnson, Emma Zaruba and Payton Wheeler; Brother: Clare Wheeler of Davison; Sister: Marge Ostrom of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson: Aaron Wheeler; parents: William and Lois Wheeler; Sisters: Agnes Moreland and Ruth Pletcher; and Brothers: Max Wheeler, William Wheeler, Dale Wheeler, and Herb Wheeler. The family would like to express a special thanks to: Jack and Rose Lindsay of Davison, Pastor Moorhouse, Dr. and Mrs. Espinosa and staff, and Genesys Hospice staff.
