David Ehred, 69, of Fostoria, passed away at home on Tuesday July 23, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born February 24, 1955 in Detroit to parents William and Estelle (Beyster) Ehred. Dave married Catherine A. Thomas on May 21, 1994 in Pinckney.
Dave enjoyed his many travels and adventures with his wife Cathy and family especially camping, riding horses, spending time in the U.P., and most recently visiting Alaska and Hawaii. Dave loved his job and took great pride being an electrical maintenance journeyman with DTE Energy. He retired after 30+ years in 2017, out of their Cass City base where he was also a member of the Local 223. Above all, he loved the many friendships he made along the way. Most would agree that Dave never met a stranger, he loved making friends and connecting to those around him. Dave would honestly stop and help anyone, he was known to be generous if someone were struggling. He was a man with bighearted spirit and great faith, which served him well during this long battle. He enjoyed attending church and loved being a part of the Simple Truth Ministry at the Red Barn. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years: Cathy, children: Ryan (Tiffany) Ehred, Jason (Leah) Allen, Melissa (Jason) McFalls, Jon (Brittany) Ehred, Daniel Ehred, grandchildren: Keni, Karlie, Delaney, Leilah, Porter, Ronin, Tessa, and Emma, his siblings: Jan, Bill, and Carol as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents.
Mr. Ehred’s cremation has been entrusted with Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. A memorial service will be 11:00am Saturday July 27, 2024 at Muirs officiated by Pastor Bob Lott. The family will receive friends the hour prior (10-11am). Burial of cremated remains will eventually be in West Branch Twp Cemetery, Skandia, MI.
