Harold Jack Cross, 83, of Lapeer, died on Thursday, November 10, 2016.
Jack was born October 5, 1933 in Turner, Michigan to Lester and Marcella (Tennis) Cross. He graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1952. He went on to attend Michigan State University where he earned his associates degree in agriculture (& was six credits short of his bachelors degree). Jack served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Elizabeth Ann Burke on March 16, 1957 in Camden, Michigan. Jack was the Friend of the Court of Lapeer County for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer. He was a member of the Lapeer Kiwanis Club since 1963; a 30 year member of the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Posse; a devoted 4-H leader; a member of the BMW Motorcycle Club and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club; and loved showing horses as a member of the Eastern Michigan Horse Association. Above all of these special interests and hobbies, Jack was a family man – a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Jack is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cross; children: Denise (Keith) Aspey of Lapeer, Dan (Christine) Cross of Lapeer and Pam Cross of Lapeer; grandchildren: Joshua (Melissa) Cross and Lindsey Apsey; great-grandchildren: Chloe, Alliyha, Wyatt, Corbin and Sophie; sister, Donna (Dan) Isham of Lapeer. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Cross and his parents.
Visitation will be 1-4/6-8PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Jack’s funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, November 14, 2016 at Muir Brothers. Rev. Arnold Bracy will officiate. Burial will be in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, Lapeer Kiwanis Club or the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer.
