HOUGHTON, Robert M. - of Clio, age 75, died on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Medilodge of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Bethany United Methodist Church – 353 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 2PM. Due to COVID-19, the family understands if you are only able to attend through prayer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church or the Clio Area Educational Foundation.

Rob was born in Flint, MI on May 10, 1945 to the late Richard and Betty Houghton. He was a lifelong Clio resident. He graduated from Clio High School in 1963, where he met the love of his life, his dear wife of 52 years Sue Tidball. They were married in Clio on August 19, 1967. He graduated with a business degree from Michigan State University in 1968. Rob had a passion for his community and was dedicated to the city of Clio. He was a member of the Clio Rotary for over 50 years, the Clio Educational Foundation, the Community Education of Greater Flint, Clio Eagles, He was the Clio Alumnus of the year in 2003, a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Clio Country Club. Rob’s career started in banking with Clio State Bank, now known as PNC. He left the banking Industry and worked as a financial advisor for AXA Advisors and retired from Sigma. Rob loved spending time up north in Elk Rapids and traveling to Florida. He loved the game of golf, as a right and left handed golfer. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities and was a loyal Spartan fan who was known for his spontaneous rendition of the Spartan fight song.

Rob loved his family: Wife, Sue Houghton; Daughters: Tracy (Randy) McGuirk, and Darci (Jason) Brown; Grandchildren: Taylor and Lauren McGuirk, Gibson and Weston Brown; Nephew, Rich Houghton; Many fun loving cousins and dear friends. He was very proud of his family and will be missed dearly and remembered by so many. Rob was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Houghton in 2007.
