Richard S. Dyka, age 96, of Flushing, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Richard was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Michael and Nellie Dyka. Richard enlisted in the US Navy at the young age of 17 to proudly defend his country during WWII. He was stationed on the USS Conor and USS Evans.

Richard married the love of his life Dorothy Mish on July 30, 1955. They enjoyed traveling, walking and spending time with family. Richard was a man of many talents, excelling at many different jobs over the years. He began his work career at Ford Motor Company in the parts department until taking an opportunity at Massey Ferguson, where he retired from in 1983. But, Richard never stopped. He continued to use his talents and hard work ethic; painting, wallpapering and working at Charles Step Funeral Home in Redford, Michigan.

Richard also loved tending to his garden. He was known for the large delicious vegetables; such as, tomatoes and zucchinis that grew in abundance each year. When he wasn't tending to his garden, he was spending time with his family and friends and enjoying a good hockey, football or baseball game. Often enjoying an early morning coffee with the guys and breakfast with his sweetie, Dorothy. Each evening up until last year, Richard would end his day walking one to five miles around the neighborhood.

Richard was a wonderful man, he lived a life of faith and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Samuel (Gwyn) Dyka; grandchildren: Andrea Dyka, Joseph (Sara) Massimino IV, Michael (Sarah) Massimino, Andrew (Alexsis) Massimino, Paul ( Crystol) Massimino; great grandchildren: Caydence, Chayse, Bella, Cooper, Jaxson, Addison, Vivian, Michael II and Maveryk Massimino; several nieces and nephews; and Joseph Massimino III. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and sisters: Sophie, Laura and Stella.

A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary prayer service at 7pm at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E Hill Rd, Grand Blanc, Michigan. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:30 AM with one hour of visitation at Church of the Divine Child, 1055 North Silvery Lane, Dearborn, Michigan. Entombment will follow with military honors at St. Hedwig Cemetery and Mausoleum.
