PERTLER, Joan Mae – of Flint, age 78, passed away January 10, 2018 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Robert D. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Joan was born in Flint, MI on March 10, 1939, daughter of the late Hugh L. and Hildreth (Foltz) Simmons. She married Kenneth Pertler on August 3, 1963. Joan was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking, camping and going to the casino, but her greatest love were her grandkids.
Joan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth; children, DuWayne (Marianne) Zaruba, Carla (Bill) Andringa and Julee White; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Linda (John) Walter. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Allie; brother, Louis Simmons and sister, Elizabeth Hoffman.
