Woods, George Dennis, Sr., - age 86, of Swartz Creek, died July 6, 2024. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Friday, July 12, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, July 11 and 12-6 PM Friday, July 12. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. George was born August 13, 1937 in Mount Forest Township, MI, the son of William Joseph and Gladys Pearl (Feinhauer) Woods. He married Jacqueline Margaret Bigelow and she preceded him in death on November 10, 2023. George retired from General Motors after 53 1/2 years of service. He was well known as the Mule Man and rode his mules around Swartz Creek. George won the Fastest Mule in Michigan several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: daughter, Wendi (Dave) Sullivan; grandchildren, George (Veronica) Woods III, Tricia (Paul) Diehl, Sara Rodriguez, Dana Waider, Billy (Jaclyn) Woods; eight great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Larry (Beverley) Woods; many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his, children, George, Elizabeth and Jacqueline; and wife, Jacqueline. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
