Daniel E. Schmidt, age 60 of Perry, Michigan died Friday, November 25, 2016 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Dallas Gatlin officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm and again on Thursday from 10am until the time of the service.
Dan was born on April 17, 1956 in Owosso, Michigan, to Vernon Lloyd and Molly Jeanne (Cox) Schmidt. Dan grew up in Corunna and graduated from Corunna High School in the class of 1974. On June 2, 1979 he married Karen Sue Milam and became a resident of Flint and then Owosso, they’ve spent the last twenty years in Perry. Dan enjoyed all kinds of music, playing his guitar, weaving, woodworking, gardening, genealogy, and always helping friends.
Dan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen Schmidt, son, Timothy Schmidt of Lansing, MI. His mother, Molly Jeanne Schmidt. Siblings; Nancy Bortel of Maumee, OH, Frank (Cathy) Schmidt of Branson, MO, Steve (Linda) Schmidt of Snohomish, WA, Carolyn (Tim) Hess of Henderson, MI, and Marilyn (Mark) Warren of Las Vegas, NV, many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews, also many special friends.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Vernon Lloyd Schmidt and his grandparents; Bertrum and Carrie Cox, Lydia Willems and Frank Schmidt.
Memorial contributions are suggested to: Perry Area Fire Rescue (SSESA) American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Carriage Town ministries.
