CARLSON, Edward Donald - Age 72, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, March 9, 2020. Funeral service will take place 2 PM, Friday, March 13, 2020, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 12 pm until the time of service Friday. Private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the family. Edward was born on May 31, 1947 in Flint, the son of Donald and Betty (Zimmerman) Carlson. He graduated from Ainsworth High School, class of 1965. Edward proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before his honorable discharge in 1968. He worked for GM Metal Fab. for 40 years as a dye setter before his retirement in 2005. Edward and Carolyn were united in marriage on August 1, 1997 in Toledo. In his free time, he enjoyed playing on his bowling and golfing leagues. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Carlson; step-son, Ian Kohlman; and several nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Carlson; brother, Albert “Skip” Carlson; and sister, Kathleen “Kathy” Lancaster.
