PHILP, June – of Columbiaville, age 94, passed away in loving care of her family, Fisher and hospice caregivers September 4, 2015 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center, her home for the last 20 months. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Kay Leitelt officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Deerfield UMC or Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center activity fund.

June was born in Flint, MI on June 4, 1921, daughter of the late Howard and Barbara (McKinley) Chaplin. During her life, she graduated from Flint Central High School, attended Baker Business School and worked at Flint Chevrolet Manufacturing. She married the love of her life Ronald Philp on June 29, 1944 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Flint and he preceded her in death. In 1944-1945, they lived in Long Island, NY where Ron completed his military service. June and Ron enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Church and family were of utmost importance to June. She was a lifelong Methodist being a member of Asbury UMC in Flint and West Deerfield UMC in North Branch. June enjoyed nothing more than doing for others, baking, knitting, crocheting and traveling were here favorite hobbies, her hands were never idle. Bible studies and hymn sings were special to her. She never shied away from learning and loved participating in new challenges. June shared her husband’s love for his Cornish heritage. They traveled to Cornwall, England and Scotland several times.

June is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Neaves of Marquette; son, Ronald L. Philp of Barnes Lake; grandson, Matthew (Amy) Neaves of Marquette; granddaughters, Pam (Dustin Gentet) Neaves, Elissa Neaves and Alison Neaves of Marquette; sisters, Betty Hays of Loveland, CO and Marion Valentine of Fostoria. She was preceded in death by her stepmother Mabel (Ross) Chaplin.
