DEUKER, Robert Calvert – of Burton, age 90, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be 12:30 PM Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Memorial Service, under the auspices of Davison Knights of Columbus Council 3rd Degree Council #4090 and 4th Degree Assembly #0523, will be held 12 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #4090, in Robert’s memory.
Robert was born in Chicago, IL on February 27, 1934, son of the late Fredrick and Yonne Deuker. He proudly served his country in the Michigan Army National Guard for 29 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a pioneer ski instructor, as the ninth person to earn the title “professional ski instructor” in the state of Michigan. Recently he was awarded “Master Pilot” for a lifetime of aviation accomplishments.
Robert is survived by his son, Eric (Denise) Deuker; grandchildren, Aidan and Caitlin Deuker; step-son, Larry Stevens; special friend, Loretta Thiry; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna Deuker.
