Birchmeier, Rupert A. of Flushing, age 89, passed away Wednesday, September 06, 2017, at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Robert Catholic Church, with Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am Saturday at the church until the time of the Mass.
Rupert was born in New Lothrop, MI on November 30, 1927, the son of William and Helen (Wenzlick) Birchmeier. He married Dorothy I. Yaklin at St. Michaels Catholic Church-Maple Grove in New Lothrop, MI on November 5, 1955. Rupert was a farmer, and he loved farming. He served his country by joining the Army and serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the New Lothrop VFW Post, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Chesaning Council.
Rupert is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 7 children; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Marion, Delores, Margaret Mary and Sister Margaret Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 siblings; and a son, Douglas.
