Gavura, Irene - Of Scottsdale, Arizona, age 101, passed away peacefully in Flint on Friday, September 15, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father James Mangan officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Mass.
Visitation 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass at the church.
Irene was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 2, 1916, the daughter of Edward and Matilda (Borne) Clark.
On March 4, 1933, she married Method Joseph Gavura in Detroit.
They had one daughter, Arlene. They enjoyed travel and an active social life prior to Method’s death in 1983. Irene was devoted to her family and friends. An avid golfer, she won club championships at West Shore Golf and Country Club, Flint Golf Club and Paradise Valley Country Club.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Arlene Hagan of Flint and
grandchildren,
Martha (Bryan) Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana, and their children Robert (Melissa) Baker, Laura (Drew) Kelsey and Amanda Baker,
John G. III (LeeAnn) Hagan of Simpsonville, South Carolina and their three children,
John G. IV (Lindsey) Hagan, Chris (Danielle) Hagan and Abby (Michael) Wolfe,
Amy (Timothy) Louis of Paradise Valley, Arizona and their four children,
Henrietta, Madeline, Curt and Clark Louis,
Michael (Marla) Hagan of Fenton, Michigan and their two children,
Method and Libby Hagan
She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren,
Irene, James and Louis Hagan
