Albert W. King, 95, of Attica formerly of Flint, died Saturday July 13, 2019. He was born September 20, 1923 in Marion Co., Kansas, his family moved to Michigan at his of age 13.
He graduated from Lapeer High School in 1941 and enlisted in the United States Air Corp in 1942. Al served in North Africa, India and two years in China with the Flying Tigers. He married Betty Warren of Lapeer on December 8, 1943. When the war was over, they moved to Flint where he worked in management at the Mead Paper distribution center for 38 years, retiring in March 1986. Al was a charter member of the Mt. Morris fire department and served their many years. During his lifetime he spent many hours in Christian work. He has been a member of the Hunters Creek Community Church for many years. He served there as Sunday school teacher & superintendent as well as chairman of several deacon boards.
He loved hunting, fishing, boating, football and spent many happy hours with his children and grandchildren; watching and participating in various sporting events.
Mr. King is survived by his daughter: Vickie (William) Huss of Montrose, grandchildren: Richard (Michelle) King; Kyle (Beth) King; Todd (Ann) King; Chris Huss and Amy Huss, x7 great–grandchildren and x2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Betty in 2007, son: Gary King in 2003 as well as his parents.
His visitation will be 3:00-8:00pm Monday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Mr. King’s funeral will be 11:00am Tuesday July 16, 2019 at Muirs, officiated by Pastor Joel Caminiti. Burial will follow services, at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
