SCHMIT, ALPHONSE F. – Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Swank Assisted Living in Swartz Creek.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Leronio Vodivodi officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass at church.
Alphonse was born in Flushing, Michigan on June 15, 1936, the son of the late Alfons and Lucia (Bol) Schmit.
Alphonse graduated from Flushing High School Class of 1954.
Alphonse married Judith Sekelsky on October 15, 1960 at St. John Vianney.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Alphonse enjoyed old classic cars, hiking Colorado mountains, traveling (he loved road trips) and spending time with his family.
Alphonse was an entrepreneur, owning S & S Motors in Flint for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Judi;
4 children, Steven (Marsha) Schmit of Grand Blanc, and their children, Sydney (Tyler) Mazzolini and Joseph Schmit and great-granddaughter, Vivian;
Alyssa Schmit and Bob Ley of Tawas, MI, and her son, Adam Tybor;
Alan (Joy) Schmit of Chicago and their children, Colson Schmit, Samuel Schmit and Margaret Schmit;
Kurt Schmit of Grand Blanc and his children, Madeleine (Mike) Serota,
Benjamin Schmit and Nicolaus Schmit;
5 brothers, Father Jerome Schmit, Gerard Schmit, Lawrence Schmit, David Schmit and Michael Schmit;
sister-in-law, Kimberly;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert, Ronald, Phillip and Gregory Schmit.
