Kenneth Duane Bacon, age 72, of Corunna, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at McLaren Hospital, Flint, Michigan. Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM,Saturday, March 23, 2019 at New Covenant Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd. Clio, Mi. 48420. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services with a luncheon to follow.
Ken was born January 30, 1947 in Saginaw County, Michigan to Albert Lee and Betty Lou (Boetcher) Bacon. He was one of five children. He had a love for the game of chess and published chess moves for the Argus Press newspaper. He also had a passion for fishing; catching a forty-three-inch Pike at one point. He enjoyed many outdoor activities especially tennis and basketball. Ken met the love of his life Gloria Jean Burkhardt at a high school basketball game. He went on to graduate from Corunna High School in 1965 and attended Lansing Community College to study Art. In March of 1967, Ken joined the Army to serve his country in the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in January of 1970. Upon his return he married Gloria on February 28, 1970 at New Haven Methodist Church in Owosso, Michigan. Ken retired from A. O. Smith Corporation in Owosso with 28 years of service as a Quality Control Engineer. Together they raised a daughter, Tamara Lynn Bacon. Ken’s greatest love was spending time with his family. Because of Tammy's interest in running he joined her and they ran distance races for fun.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-nine years, Gloria, his granddaughter; Dominique Pisani, his brothers; Richard (Kathy), Robert (Gail), Gary (Colleen), his sister; Barb (Randy) Sturtevant, many nieces, nephews and friends. Ken was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy in 2016, his mother Betty in 2011 and his father Albert in 1985
