KUMPON, William “Bill” Francis, of Flushing, age 81, died Friday, December 28, 2018, at McLaren-Flint Hospital. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Flushing. The Very Rev. James J. Batcha will officiate. Burial will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint. Visitation will be at Rossell Funeral Home in Flushing on Friday, from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. with a Parastas service at 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy, with a 10:30 a.m. Panachida service.
Bill was born in Binghamton, New York on November 26, 1937, the son of Francis and Helen (Patrick) Kumpon. He graduated from Binghamton High School and worked for the City of Binghamton before beginning a position with IBM. He moved to Flint, MI in 1966 and worked for AC Spark Plug/GM for 27 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1997. He married Josephine Juno on July 15, 1967 at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Flint, MI.
Bill loved to bowl, play golf and played on a pool league. He was inducted into the Flint Bowling Hall of Fame on October 7, 2007 and even played a year on the Pro Bowling Tour. He was a devoted family man.
Bill is survived by his children, Dawn (Michael) Davis, William Kumpon, Jr.; granddogs, Beetlejuice, Licorice, and Chester; all of Flushing; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kumpon of Johnson City, New York; brothers-in-law, George (Suzanne) Juno of Flushing and Robert (Pat) Juno of Anderson, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. |
